Located in southeastern Utah, Westwater Canyon is a relatively short, narrow, extremely scenic canyon which the Colorado River has gouged and polished through an ancient uplift of black Precambrian schist. Soaring red sandstone cliffs cap the jet black schist, providing a striking contrast. A series of class IV technical rapids are encountered during this seventeen-mile, one day rafting trip. We launch at the Westwater Ranger Station, and take out seventeen miles downstream at the Cisco boat ramp, both just off I-70, between Green River, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado.
